Nicole Dahmen, Ph.D., is a Professor at the Clark Honors College and the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon. Dahmen has gained an international reputation for her scholarship, which falls into three key areas, sometimes standing alone but more frequently intersecting: visual journalism, ethics, and contextual reporting. Dahmen's research seeks to advance public-interest journalism--reporting that holds the powerful accountable, elevates underrepresented voices, and makes a positive impact in society. She's also a student at Pacific University’s MFA program where she's learning the art of creative nonfiction. At UO, she teaches classes in media ethics, solutions journalism, and nonfiction research/writing.
