Have you ever wondered who decides who can use a specific space or who is authorized to make space requests? As most members of The New School appreciate, space is limited on our campus so it’s vital to ensure all assigned spaces meet the community’s needs and support the university’s academic mission.
Co-chairs of the university’s Space Governance Committee, Nadine Bourgeois, Interim Associate Provost for Strategic Academic Planning and Implementation, and Kelly Powell, Director of Space Planning, provide insight into how space is allocated to divisions, units, and student organizations. The will include clarification on space requests and access, the university’s current plans to expand, shrink, or reallocate space on campus, and the current efforts underway to make the process of space allocation increasingly transparent and equitable.
